Function of the Adverbial Particle out in English Phrasal Verbs: Corpus Analysis

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyse the potential effect of one of the most frequent particles – out – on the aspect and Aktionsart categories of verbs. We will explore in which percentage the main verb is affected by the aspectual and/or Aktionsart influence of this particle. The (statistic) analysis will be performed on the corpus provided from modern British literature so that it can reflect the contemporary state in this fi eld.
