An Example of Determining the Cause of Fish Mortality, the Parameters for Estimating the Extent and Scope of Damage and Estimate the Total (Direct and Indirect) Losses in Aquaculture
Abstract
In litigation for compensation for material damage caused mortality in aquaculture fish stocks, experts (mainly veterinary profession) have primarily a key role in determining the cause of death but also to establish a proposal of direct and indirect damages. The complexity of determining the cause of death and the variety of parameters which determine the direct and indirect damages, expert opinion is very complex and requires knowledge of fish diseases, farming technology, environmental conditions and others. This paper presents the basic concepts and examples from this issue, the easier way to ending the judicial process.
