Estimation of aesthetic value of interior design
Abstract
Beautiful objects and things are generally well-accepted elements of everyday life. How can interior design work
be attractive and desirable? This is one of the most important issues in this area. What aesthetic attributes or characteristics should an interior design work possess in order to provoke an aesthetic response? This key issue has not yet been
deeply and systematically studied. Multidimensional scaling is one of the common research approaches commonly used
in other scientific fields. This approach can reveal the most ideal composition of elements by analyzing the relational
positions of each element in the stimulation space. The approach itself is very suitable for researching issues related to
aesthetic evaluation, but the literature is quite small. Using color photographs of designed interiors as a measuring instrument, such a study can conduct research on students including interior design and other related fields, collecting data on
aesthetic evaluation of these objects from color photographs, and then exploring aesthetic assessment using multidimensional scaling and entropy analysis. information.
The analyzed results show two main findings: 1. there are only some minor differences between the directions of interior
design and other directions in their aesthetic response; they all share a penchant for the same factor. 2. Works on interior
design that contain nostalgic elements in the visual feature and can evoke a moderately decorated or classic size of the
value of the mental image are most desirable. These findings can be useful in interior design practice as design references
or even guidelines in some cases.
