Abstract

The Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse (Lanzarote Convention) provides for the criminalization of all forms of sexual abuse of children. Also, this Convention stipulates that, in due time after ratification, European countries will take measures aimed at preventing sexual violence, but also pass special legal provisions that will refer to the protection of child victims and the criminal prosecution of perpetrators of this type of crime. In order to ensure the effective implementation of the Convention by the member states, a Committee of Member States, known as the "Lanzarote Committee", was established, which, in accordance with its Rules of Procedure, monitors the implementation of the Convention in the member states. In January 2018, the Lanzarote Committee completed its first round of monitoring entitled "Protection of children from sexual abuse in the circle of trust".

In the paper, with reference to the Questionnaire of the Lanzarote Committee an overview of the compliance of legal provisions in the Republic of Srpska as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be presented.
