FULFILLING INTERNAL NEEDS FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY USING SOLAR PANELS ON PUBLIC BUILDINGS

Abstract

The use of solar panels for the production of electric energy for one's own needs is at the
beginning in Serbia. The adoption of the Law on Renewable Energy Sources and by-laws on the
status of prosumer has initiated a greater interest of both households and business entities in greater
use of energy produced in this way.In addition to simplified procedures, the increase in the price of
electricity is another reason why citizens, the public and business sectors decide to build solar
power plants on their roofs.
The paper shows how much it costs to cover one's own needs for electricity from a solar
power plant installed on the roof of a public building. It is about the administrative building of a
public utility company, in a city located in the south of Serbia- Pirot.
