Abstract

The digital transformation of businesses is currently experiencing significant improvements,
supported by the use of artificial intelligence. The manufacturing sector is being substantially
transformed using emerging technologies. Consequently, the manufacturing environment has
become more dynamic and complex, causing more interdependencies, uncertainties, and large
amounts of data that should be processed and analysed. In this sense, artificial intelligence plays a
crucial role in supporting data-driven decision-making, which is beneficial for the digitalization of
manufacturing processes. The aim of this paper is to present a bibliometric analysis that
comprehensively describes who the main contributors are and what the main streams of research
are in the field of developing and implementing decision support systems based on artificial
intelligence in manufacturing. The research findings should be a valuable resource for other
academics interested in learning more about the most recent developments in the field.
Furthermore, it opens possibilities for further research related to the development of intelligent
decision support systems in manufacturing.
