The development of the e-book, in recent years, has initiated numerous debates and analysis, emphasizing reading habits as well as the effects of the mass digitalization, partially including coronavirus pandemic this last year. E – books are available in various formats, and they include various media. The highest domination is achieved in the USA, whereas in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the use of e-books is still of insufficient scale. This paper points out the research of the academic use of e-books in comparison to the printed ones and its eventual domination. Precisely, higher education libraries have still been indecisive to enrich its library fund with e-books considering copyrights and fulfilling the users needs. Changes have been evident in relation to publishing electronic reference books, including the support of open access publications. Considering education as computer-based, specially this last year from the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the reserach has been conducted aiming to gain clearer perception of teh academic use of e-books at the University of Travnik.
