Abstract

Šabac is a city that has had a central wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) since 2017, which is very important from the aspect of protecting the health of the population and protecting the environment. The advantage of the plant is that it facilitates the business of economic entities in the city. They do not have to have their own wastewater treatment plant, but only one for pre-treatment.The treatment of communal waters, apart from the city, also includes gravitating suburban settlements.The collected sanitary wastewater is treated at the plant, as well as industrial water, which has been brought to a certain quality by appropriate pre-treatments. In this paper, data for process lines of water treatment and sludge treatment, available from internal tests of the WWTP laboratory, were used. The laboratory uses standard wastewater treatment equipment. Inlet and outlet water analyzes are performed daily, as well as dry matter analysis, while once a week, on thursdays, these analyzes are accompanied by the determination of the content of organic matter in the sludge.The results of the report are presented in tabular form on a weekly basis. The water that is released into the Sava River after processing in the plant is 40% cleaner, which is a significant environmental indicator. Sludge generated in the treatment process is disposed of in a safe manner and could be a significant source for gas and compost production.
