Abstract

Europe dedicates great importance to the protection of free competition and the necessity for normative regulation, so that within the framework of the Treaty of Rome on the formation of the European Union the so-called Treaty of Amsterdam, as the first basic document in the field of competition protection, had been adopted. This document is later elaborated by the adoption of the Regulation on control of concentrations between companies, and a special competition commission (European Commission) was set up, which in cooperation with the regulatory bodies of certain EU member states deals with competition protection issues in the European Union.
