UNIVERSITY BIJELJINA IN THE WORLD OF HEALTH SCIENCES - ESTABLISHMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

The author states the basic facts related to the establishment and development of the Bijeljina University, giving particular consideration to the field of health sciences - Pharmacy and Nursing, which are being studied at this higher education institution within the Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Health Studies. The paper chronologically documents the procedure that led to obtaining the Work Permit and the beginning of the University's higher education activities. The author, as one of the participants in the process of establishing the University, is mainly using the original documentary material. The author explains certain details by referring to the positive regulations that were valid at the time of the establishment of the University, and after that period, and makes conclusion by using the method of analysis and synthesis. The paper seeks to point out the existing issues in the field of health sciences, i.e. higher education, arising after the transition to the Bologna education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, the purpose of the paper is to point out the complexity of the establishment of a higher education institution, eventual responsibility and the path to pass, which is not always necessary in the establishment of university higher education institutions. The paper starts from the premise that for a better and faster development of the University or higher education institutions in the Republic of Srpska, it is necessary to harmonize the regulations, ensure better transparency of the work of the Higher Education Council and reduce the number of bodies that give an opinion on the justification for introducing a new study program.
