The biggest conceptual change after the "Cold War" happened in the field of security studies. According to most authors in the field of security from the period before the end of the 20th century, this change was determined by three dominant views: realism in the approach to security studies with its derivatives, liberal-institutional approach and alternative-critical approach in issues of security studies. However, in this paper, the author ignores the previous three approaches, and elaborates on the (new) fourth approach - the modern approach to the security studies. In this way, we learn that the proponents of a modern or new approach to the security studies suggesst at least two directions. On the one hand, the security studies should expand beyond the state and, on the other hand, the security studies should be observed synergistically with the values, needs and interests of individuals.
