Special method of forensic expertize in veterinary medicine: Identification of the species and breed of animal

Abstract

Beside general methods, the veterinarian-expert witness often use some special methods of forensic expertize in order to provide veterinary forensic evaluation. Some of them are identification of the species and breed of animal, determination of animal’s age, pregnancy assessment in animals, estimation of shrinkage during transport, evaluation of milk production of dairy animals, identification of stillbirths etc.
In this paper authors show the importance and need for identifying the species and breed of animal, and describe the methods and procedures which are carried out during this special method of forensic expertize.
