Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the impact of education, experience, and socioeconomic characteristics on the behavior of individual investors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a particular focus on their attitudes towards different asset classes. This research provides valuable insights for educational institutions, investment advisors, and investors themselves, and can serve as a basis for developing strategies to improve investment behavior in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through a survey and literature review, the research found that the level of education and investment experience play a significant role in risk perception and confidence in one’s own knowledge of the financial markets. Results showed a significant correlation between the level of education and risk tolerance, with higher educated respondents demonstrating a greater willingness to take risks. Additionally, investor experience influenced the perception of market knowledge. The results suggest that socioeconomic characteristics, such as age, gender, and education level, play a significant role in shaping investment strategies. The findings indicate a need for specialized educational resources and programs targeted at individual investors to improve their investment decisions and reduce investment risks. Furthermore, the results highlighted the need for further research to expand the sample size, include more women, and analyze the impact of various macroeconomic factors.
