The process of digitalization, which is present in almost all phenomena in society, has not bypassed the field of finance and financial institutions, it can even be said that the field of finance is at the forefront in the application of digital technologies and digital products. This has been especially pronounced in recent years, when digitalization and digital products have taken precedence over classic products. Of course, everything that is new also carries with it the necessary consequences, both positive and negative. The paper explores the consequences of introducing digital products into the field of finance and financial institutions, their impact on balance sheets, the manner of their legal regulation, as well as the positive and negative sides of this process. Special attention in the paper is focused on the challenges faced by the management of financial institutions, the impact on business, human resources training and continuous investments in this area. In addition, it provides an overview of the current state of the process of digitalization of products and services on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the challenges and legal restrictions faced by participants in the financial market, as well as predictions for the coming period.
