Abstract

Space that cannot be precisely defined by certain conventional spatial chategory (for example as interior or exterior), because it takes over the characteristics of variuous spaces, expresses ambivalent features. Such a spatial chategory often occurs in complex architectonic structures, that are created by the insertion of spatial layers one within another. Its presence enriches the spatial experience of the architecture and contributes to the creation of unique ambience values, that affect the residents’ lives. This paper has the goal to investigate the spaces of this kind in housing architecture and to determine their importance in the terms of housing comfort.
