Internal Structure of the Category House Parts
Abstract
This paper reports findings from a questionnaire-based study on the internal structure of the category HOUSE PARTS, conducted among 211 respondents, all native speakers of Serbian. The semantic organization of the category is represented by two ranking lists based on the frequency and order with which the category members were named by the respondents. The results show that the most dominant members of the category core and the areas close to it are the segmental parts of a house, seen either in terms of spaces or in terms of the structural elements which define those spaces.Downloads
